I just emptied the water out of my 10g, removed the gravel, and added Eco-complete. I started to fill it and this is how it looks:

When I started to fill it
When I finished

Completely cloudy. Not normal, right? What do I do?

I was told by multiple sources that I shouldn't rinse the Eco-complete because it would be counterproductive, plus I was told that it's not supposed to cloud the water.

It will cloud for a few hours but then clear and within a few days no amount of digging around in it has caused it to cloud again in my tanks. I've never rinsed mine and just leave the filter off for a few hours until it's settled. It takes a few days after the water clears for all the layers to get settled and then the small particles will be on the very bottom.

That's exactly what I was told and that is exactly what happened in my case. You you have any fish in there? Cause if you just run a filter and let it sit for a couple of weeks, it should go down. In my case, I really couldn't wait because I had 6 neons and a ram waiting.

The fish that were in the 10g are now in my 46g, so time isn't a huge issue. I turned my filters back on and hopefully the water will start to clear soon.

Thanks for all of your responses.

You definitely don't want to rinse eco. It contains good bacteria that will help cycle the tank. It's normal for the water to be cloudy at startup. After you run the filter for a while it should clear up. Was the tank completely cleaned out before you added the eco. I myself use eco in my tank and did have one of the bad batches, but the company has gotten past the problem. If you really want to know if you have a bad batch get a po4 test kit and if it's really high you probably have a bad batch. If so, the company is very good at replacing, but just because the water got cloudy at startup doesn't mean you have a bad batch.

I, personally got a bad batch. I dont know if mine leaches PO4 because i already have a dechlorinator that does it]:| which i will be replacing as of sunday. My Problem with it is that i somehow got all small sand like particles with few large clumps the size of walnuts. I cant even gravel vac. I am switching to Seachems Fluorite in 2 saturdays. Hope you got a good batch.
