Just added flourite to my 10 gallon (that I'm planting with stuff from my 29) Anywho, I rinsed and rinsed till I was somewhat satisfied (okay - irritated with rinsing) I realize there would be lots of 'muck' clouding the water. But I figured my filter would help pull it out. However, it didn't. So my tank was sitting with the filter for about 5 hours ... then my filter crashed and there was no filteration for about 5 hours. I would have thought the dust would have at least settled, but it did not.

So now I'm stuck with figuring out how to get the 'dust' out of the water ... I do not have a diatom filter, else I would use that, I was thinking about the sponge filter connected to my powerhead (It's the aquaclear powerhead/filter attachment) But I wasn't sure if that would work. I'd really like any advice - I could take a picture if anyone wants to see how murky it is It's somewhat disturbing.

Ack - anywho - I'm keeping the flourite despite all the mixed feelings about it. It's at my LFS in one of the tanks, and it's great - perfect stuff. I just need a way to clean the water so I can start attempting to plant!

Thanks!

100% water change, then fill it back up while running your hands through the substrate, then 100% water change again...when filling it back up this time, deflect the water more, against the side of the tank or something..or get a dinner plate and sit it on the substrate and pour the water onto it.

Thank you very much - that worked like a charm!

Then I'm just gonna continue to run my powerhead/filter permanently

Thanks~
