It was advertised as snail free. Not all of the plants were in the best of shape, but I spotted the most beautiful specimen of Java Fern, about 2.5-3 inches tall. Not only was it snail free, but it was algae free - at least as far as I could see. They had several other plants, but I could not recognize the names of all of them. At least one was not a true aquatic, but I did see some type of small echinodorous and some plants with the name japonica, but can't recall the two varieties of japonica. All except the echinodorous were in great shape. If there had been other Java Ferns I would have bought them. I stuffed the 3 inch one in my 3 gallon betta tank. It will do well in that tank, and will compliment my dwarf sagitaria and anubias nana v. petite when it gets here, hopefully Friday. If anyone can get me the brand name or even a website for the company selling them, I'd appreciate it. I had to run errands and it is snowing and cold so I didn't want to leave it in the car. I tore off the flat cardboard with the info on it and stuck the sealed tube in my pocket. ![]() If anyone works at Petco or goes to Petco, try to write down the names of what is available and the name of the company ![]() Last edited by Cory_Di at 23-Mar-2005 16:39 |

I'd stick with only those plants which I personally knew to be aquatic off the top of my head (i.e. the fern) |

I would advise anyone that if they see a specimen they are interested in, don't buy it just yet and go to the book section of the store and look it up to see if it is true aquatic. I suppose you could always return it if you got it home, looked it up and found it wasn't the right thing. I was tempted to try some of the other plants there, but I know better than to bring home plants or fish before I research their needs. There was also some kind of "moss" there, but I did not recognize it. Thankfully, they are sold under their scientific name, but also provide the common name with it, if there is one. |
