Hey guys,
Just wondering what plants if any make good floating plants? I have a fake one in my 20, but i was wondering if what live plants where also good for this. I'm not sure og the WPG's but the tank has strip bulbs in them that appear to be bright.

Floating plants are a good choice for top dwellers and fish that are nocturnal you might see more often with shaded areas if the tank. Also floating plants make great nitrate eaters and don't usually require a whole ton of light. I would go with hornwort or anarchis. (spelling?)

Duckweed can be used but can very easily get out of control and cause a real mess.

Riccia is also a naturally floating plant.

The best in my opinion would be Brazilian Pennywort. This can be planted or floated. It's very pretty and very easy to control. If you plant it it will grow up the surface and grow across the water. Or just dump it in and let it float. Very easy to grow.

Some days you're the pigeon and some days you're the statue.

Remember that age and treachery will always triumph over youth and ability.

For a list of floating plants try [link=http://azgardens.com/newterra2.php]http://azgardens.com/newterra2.php" style="COLOR: #00C0C0[/link] and scroll down to floating. There are a few others as well and quite a few that look similar to duckweed but are less likely to take over your aquarium. Salvinia is one of those but still might take over. Mine keeps getting eaten by my tetras so I can't even grow it. Floating plants can block the light for plants growing on the bottom of the tank.
