I have a 10 gallon tank that is being eaten up by green algea. Its mostly on substrate. I have live plants in this tank and they arent doing well at all. What can I use to fix this. I put Flourish in for the plants and used an algea eliminator for the brown algea I previoulsy had a few weeks back. It killed the brown but then the green started. I also what looks like java moss growing in spots on the back of the tank. Is this hair algea. What do I do about it?

What does the green algae look like? Are they circular spots that can't be scrubbed off (i.e. green spot algae), dusty/powder-looking stuff, or like green slime (blue-green algae)? Here's an article that might help with ID-ing: http://www.plantgeek.net/article_viewer.php?id=9

ladiejl,

Similar to stats that should be given when writing an entry in the Hospital forum, it is helpful for this forum to state more details about the tank in itself.

Like how long is it set up already, lights, plant types and load, maintenance routine, fertilization, and what not.

From your description I assume the tank isn't set up all that long yet, brown algae appears usually in new tanks, is harmless, and for sure would not have required a chemical to be removed as it dissapears by itself with time. Also, it seems that you are all over the place with adding stuff (ferts) to the tank instead of having a consistent scheme.

Hope this helps a little and I am looking forward to the details of this tank,

Ingo
