I go thru the same thing with Tenellus. The emersed leaves turn brown and die off to be replaced by new green submersed shoots. It can appear as if the plant is dying completely. Check that you have some new green shoots popping up (they'll be quite small at this stage) if you do all will be fine. It's quite common for Hairgrass to be grown emmersed before selling. Remember that age and treachery will always triumph over youth and ability. |

You can grow anything in 4wpg provided the light isn't blocked by anything, the tank isn't extra deep, and other needs are provided. 3wpg is generally enough for hairgrass. |

Anything above 3.5 wpg is complete overkill in my opinion. Your simply providing light the plants can't use. There's absolutely nothing to be gained in trying to push plant growth beyond it's natural capability, apart from additional maintenance and algae issues.. Just about any plant out there will do fine in 3wpg. More is sometimes less. Remember that age and treachery will always triumph over youth and ability. |
