Umm, interesting. I wonder what kind of yeast they use, as it's not being kept refrigerated. I guess they use activated dry yeast which is not as potent as the fresh baking yeast, which is what you should get.

Actually, you put your own sugar in. They have the inside of the cannister marked and I would estimate it to be between 3/4 and 1 cup of sugar. The yeast (activator) comes in a packet and I would estimate it to be about as much as a sugar packet. Ditto with the stabilizer. I believe this to be baking soda.

I have read that the baking soda mitigates the initial strong burst that can come out and gives it a more even flow, supposedly longer.

I was shocked this morning to see that, on its own, production is up. I hung it where it was on the back of the tank last night as I didn't want any accidents with it potentially falling over on top of the tank.

I'm going to give it a few days yet to see if things speed up, otherwise I'll try adding a little more yeast.

What kind of yeast do you all use?

Naturally, as the water in the bucket go colder, then the production slows again.

What I would suggest doing, before you start all over again, is to add some fresh yeast to the canister. More yeast = more production. How much? A little -- maybe 1/4 of a teaspoon, and see how it goes.

By the way, apart from adding the activator and stabiliser, where does the sugar comes in with the Hagen system?

on my diy co2 setup on my 10g, i rarely get 1 bubble/sec out of it. when it's going full blast, i probably get around 1 bubble every couple seconds. i would say start again without the baking soda and see if that helps. also, what's your co2 recipe you're using? do you know how much of everything is going into the mix?

Well, I suppose I could, but it will be unsightly to have . I'm going to let this run for another week and if things don't speed up, I'm going to dump the solution and do it without the baking soda.

use a small heater in that bucket of water that you placed the canister in, to maintain a constant temp?
