i just installed one hood of lights from AH supply for my 55g consisting of one 55watt and one 36watt both of which are supposadly 6700k. my problem is the bulbs when off are not pink as some say they should be, rather they are quite white. when i turn them on over my aquarium (with the protective seal still on) they emit a yellowish light which looks bad, i had expected them to emit a sort of bluish color. please give me your input!

My bulbs are 6700 K for sure and they are plain white. To my eyes the light emitted from them has a greenish tint but I suppose that is personal perception.

i know i am blue/green colorblind but still comparing the ah lights to the stock ones in another aquarium, the stock ones are alot cooler for the same color temp. maybe the ah bulbs were mislabeled or perhaps the stock ones are somewhere around the 8000 mark...

6700K lights should put off a white light. Acitnincs (sp) put off a purple/pink color. If the light isn't white I would contact AH to see if they may have sent you the wrong bulbs.

All of my florescent bulbs, ranging from 4100k to 18000k, are all white colored when off.
