OK, here's the 30g I just emptied, now with Tiger Barbs and one Rainbow Shark. I'm turning this into a planted tank, now that the cichlids have a bigger home. Sorry if the pic's a bit fuzzy, I need a tripod to get better pics.

Right now, the tank has 3 log-type plastic decorations and one zebra rock. The plastic deorations may go, but the rock is staying...

For plants I have one Brazil Sword, two varigated mondo grass, and two Java Ferns attached to the rock. All I intend on keeping is the Javas, as the others will rot soon... only bought them for the interim.

What Low light plants could I use in this tank to make a good setup with no driftwood? The tank has about 1wpg right now until I can find a cheap way to get more light.

Here's my list of possible options...

Red/Bronze Wendtii
Corkscrew Vals
Giant Hygro
Other Crypt species (open for suggestion)

Anything that shouldn't be here, let me know... any other ideas I'm open to also!

I'm pretty sure brazil swords aren't "aquatic". I know there's a thread arguing what is aquatic but in this case it won't survive with it's roots completely underwater. I think it's the same for the mondo grass although I've never come across it. The rest look fine. You can look up plants on [link=http://www.plantgeek.net/]http://www.plantgeek.net/" style="COLOR: #00C0C0[/link]

Most plants don't do fantastically in hard water; thus, I would rid yourself of the "zebra rock" quartz, replacing it with a large, flat pond stone of sorts. Mondo grass is indeed a bog plant and will eventually rot underwater.

Crinum natans, crypt wendtii green, and anubias nana would all do well in your low light tank.

Like I said, I don't intend on keeping either the mondo grass or the Brazil sword. Possibly thinking of moving the swort to my terrarium if there's room once I get real plants.

Is anubias a rhyzome plant? I want to stay away from too many rhyzome plants and go more for root plants, the gravel is actually very deep in this tank since I had cichlids in there previously.

I hope to get a bunch of crypts in the tank, but am wondering more about background plants. Would Vals be able to survive?
