Im thinking about getting some hornwort to help with nitrates. I can up to 2 wpg with both lights plugged in. I would prefer to let it float to give my festivums more hiding area. Im concerned though about my filtration. I have a lot of water movement and I think it would blow it around. What do ya think. The tank is a 75g

I've found large pieces of hornwort over 4-6" may get shoved around the surface but don't get shoved down into the filter intake. Blowing around a tank doesn't seem to do hornwort any harm. Movement actually helps keep debris from settling on the plant. All pieces smaller than 4" get sucked against my filters and create quite a mess sometimes.

The intakes are pretty far down. So i doubt it could get sucked up. I can turn down the filters maybe

Toothpicking a sponge piece into your filter intake tube also helps reduce flow which will keep the hornwort ad other plant bits/mulm from getting sucked up although this will have to be rinsed weekly.

If you have driftwood or other plants you can use them to anchor the hornwort. Twist the strands around a branch of driftwood or thru the stems of other plants... It'll grow to the surface but will be less likely to get caught up in the intake. In my tank the pieces that get stuck in wood and plants are the only ones that grow :%).
