Something turned up at my LFS yesterday (which I bought!) that I haven't seen in years - Bacopa.

I'm not sure if I have Bacopa monnieri or Bacopa caroliniana (time will tell), but, it's Bacopa, and now it's sitting in my aquarium with my Panda Corys and Cardinal Tetras!

Will post pics once the camera is charged up!

How big are the leaves? if they're at or over 3/4" it's carolina. Coloration will also provide a clue, carolina may be a bit darker green, maybe some reddish-ness to the underside of the leaves. and the leaf shape will be more spear shaped, monneiri is rounded like a tear-drop.

Also, carolina has a very nice minty/ basil type smell to it. I've always wanted to try cooking with it...

Me too! Except I think it has more of a lemony smell. I told my wife to try making salad out of them.

Just pulled a side shoot out of the tank, you're right, there's a hint of lemon to it. I still smell the mint and basil though. Maybe someday we'll get around ot making a bacopa carolina, wisteria and pennywort salad (take a wiff of pennywort, has a nice smell to it as well - I'm sure it's used in cooking wherever it occurs naturally)

Cali, posted in your other thread, looks like carolina to me.
