The best alternitive is compact flourescent bulbs that screw in just like a normal incadescant only they use less electricity, produce very little heat and have more lumen output than incadescant. Look for bulbs labled daylight to get the correct spectrum. Theres another one you can get but I cant remember it now, might be able to get it to you later. CF's also work well with plant setups. They are slightly expensive but since you dont have to replace them as often as incadescants they will save you $$$ in the long run. EDIT: I believe the other one is sunlight. You can use the Daylight(full spectrum) compact fluorescent bulbs that screw into your type of socket on the hood. |
