Megil TelZeke Fish Addict Posts: 863 Kudos: 890 Votes: 393 Registered: 21-Jul-2003	No they are two totally different species. the "moss balls" are actualy Cladophora aegagropila and are really a type of non evasive algae that grow in a spherical manner to take advantage of their natural habitat and obtain enough light to survive. It doesn't have leavs, or roots. Java moss is a type of moss, Vesicularia dubyana. It grows in a far more eratic pattern than the moss ball, and it will attach to most surfaces over time. HTH, Megil.
