i was wondering if using TeTra Nitrate-minus in a planted tank would be bad for the plants them selves....as i am kind of having an algae problem and would this product reduce algae and stun plant growth ? ... or would it not affect my plants.

In my opinion no. Taking care of the problem rather than just treating the symptoms is much better, and in the long run cheaper.

Some questions to address are how often do you perform water changes? Do you have nitrAtes in your tap water? What type of algae is it? How long is your photoperiod?

well water changes every 7-8 days (45%) and green.dot algae grows on the sides and on some of the old plant leaves ... but brown algae carpets my sand if left unstirred for 6 days..
dont have a nitrate test ..so cant tell how much the tap water has...

Brown algae isn't caused by high nitrates but excess silica and phosphates. Reduced feedings and increased water changes should handle it.
