I just got some Java Moss and i'm wondering the best way to attach it. All i have is a little round ball of it that i got for free from my LFS. I plan to put it on a small cave that i have. Do i have to cut it or pull it apart, or just leave it as a ball? Thanks.

try to spread that ball out as much as possible so light can get to most of the moss. Then tie it down onto the cave with some cotton thread. That should hold it until it attaches itself.

You'll be amazed at how much that ball will actually cover Simply sit there and fiddle with it unwinding, and pulling it apart, chances are it's just one huge piece wadded up into a ball. Once you have unraveled as much as you can stand to unravel, simply take it and wrap it around your cave or whatever you want it to stick it to, and tie it down...depending on who you ask and what you have on hand depends on what you will hear to use, i just use fishing line, wrap, knot, wrap, knot, wrap, knot, etc...eventually it will attach itself, unlessyou have corries or other talented fishthat can untie and remove the java moss good luck, heidi

Buy some garlic; the mesh pouches used to hold them makes a perfect slip cover for moss. Once it's attached, remove and trim to your liking.
