Okay I've put off posting on this for months but it's about time I figure out what it is.

I keep getting a reoccuring bit of ....well "algae" in my 10 gallon growing off a bit of java fern usually, although sometimes its on the rotala. It's clearish but slightly green, and the consistency of jell-o, boogers .

Any ideas

Sounds like what is referred to as Grey Slime. It doesn't have to be grey , it can have a greenish tint. Described as looking like floating mucus, or boogers if you prefer, growing on leaves.

Like BGA it is a form of bacteria.

Cause is the same.Chronically low nitrates. Worse thing that can happen to a tank with plants.

Bad news, it's very very difficult to get rid of, moreso then BGA. Enthromycin won't work.Adding No3 alone won't work. A four day BGA type blackout (don't forget to add the NO3) may work.

If it doesn't the only known effective cure is a complete tank teardown and clean up.
