I changed the lighting on my planted tank so I could get a little more light into the system. Here is how I currently have the tank set up. I have the following plants:

Red Temple (background)
Ozelot Swords (middle plants)
Amazon Sword (left plant)
Dwarf Sag (back, right side)

I now have 55 watts of light on the tank, so I'm VERY close to 2 wpg. I am thinking of taking the dwarf sag out and putting more red temple there, and maybe getting some type of plant that covers the bottom well.

I don't have any special gravel, but I will, hopefully soon, be using CO2 (DIY setup) on the tank to help aid the growth of the plants.

Here are my questions, is 1.9 WPG good enough for what I have with CO2? What plant could I get my tank as a carpet type plant? What suggestions do you have for my tank?

Thanks

Hi Rasco,

Tanks looking good, and those plants seem to be doing very well.

I don't have much experience of carpet plants, I think most of them are more trouble then they're worth, but for your set up dwarf hairgrass or microsword should work.

Other suggestions: lose the background ! Way too fussy and pictures of plants just distract the eyes from your real plants. Change to a black background, it will highlight you own plants and give a sense of depth.

Personally I wouldn't add anymore red temple. Granted it's a very beautiful plant but because of that it should be used sparingly as a centrepiece. Too much red just looks garish, too much of a good thing. A bold splash of red is much more effective. Try something that will contrast with the temple color and shape wise.Maybe some stargrass (ther's a big field of it in your background !) or Ambulia Aromatica.

Something small like Pearlweed close to the driftwood would be a really nice contrast to those beautiful swords.

Tank's looking real good - nice work.

Some days you're the pigeon and some days you're the statue.

Remember that age and treachery will always triumph over youth and ability.

Hi Racso, I like your tank and really like that piece of driftwood. Was it an online purchase and if so, would you share your shopping spot? Thanks
Jan

Thanks bensaf. We do have some stargrass in my store, but the problem is, i do not have any room really to put that in there. I thought about that, but i couldn't.

Also, now that it is a planted tank, i will move the background

Also, about the driftwood, i got that from my brother, and i don't know where he got it from, so sorry.
