I've recently been hearing loads about them and was thinking of getting a couple.

Does anyone else have them or have any opinions on them?

Would they make a nice treat for my oto's?

Otos won't eat marimo balls. Marimo balls are purely for looks and do require a slight bit of maintenance. They have to be turned occasionally and kept rolled in a ball or the bottom layer will die and turn brown.

This is not really of any help to anybody but you did ask

I hate them ! Can't stand them. I don't think they have any place in an aquascape. The planted tank equivilent of the sunken bubbling treasure chest IMO.

But this is purely a personal preference/taste thing. If you like them that's cool. They're very easy to take care of.

I'd spread it out on a rock or such if it would work.

I'm not a big fan of them in ball form, however, once torn apart and spread out, cladophora looks awesome.

Quite easy to keep. Just put them in your tank & they should "drown" in 24 hours & you should move them a bit, when doing the water changes & gravel cleaning, so you'll keep the rounded & they don't turn brown.
