Very different from Java moss. It's a grass-like plant hat requires very high light, a good substrate, good nutrients, and even then most people have no success with it. Pretty plant though.

My microsword is doing pretty well in about 3wpg. Just gravel for a substrate, but I have DIY CO2 and I'm dosing ferts.

I haven't seen a great ammount of growth like the rest of my plants but there is some growth and it is definitely not dying off.

They are one of the harder species of plants to keep. Only a select few, i have heard of, have really gotten it to grow and flourish.

It's not as hard if you fulfill it's requirements, which is a lot of iron, water and substrate, and high lighting, it's slow growing and it will take a while before you can see it. I plant the runners in a spiral like clump and you can see after a while how the clump grows bigger and bigger from the center out.

Often confussed with Lilaeopsis Novae-zelandiae.

Falstaf - I suspect a lot of the problem is that several related species are being sold under the same common name, and while some can be grown with not too much effort, several are well nigh impossible. Probably depends a good bit on who your plant supplier is, whether you can get it to grow.

Yep, I agree and I see it all the time at LFS, specially with crypts, valls, swords and saggitarias. if you don't know what you are getting, it can really become a problem, they have such different requirements that that's why I think people get disappointed easily with live plants. They think they get something and they get something else.
