It looks like a Black brush algae to me...if you are using CO2, somehow up the production of ur CO2. You can also get SAE or Florida Flagfish, they both eat it.

Thanks FMZ. I am actually getting a CO2 dispenser this weekend. Should I cut those leaves of the plant, or just let them be?

If you don't have a fish that will eat it, you're best bet is to remove the leaves. It's a pain to remove it manually, and you should get new growth fairly quickly.

It seems my plecos avoid it...is there a type of fish that prefers it, or in the least will eat it at all?

Depends on the size of your tank and the inhabitants. True Siamese Algae eaters will eat it, as will Florida flagfish (so I've read and been told). However, SAE's grow to 5-6 inches and are quite active, and Florida Flagfish can be aggressive to slower moving fish, or to other bottom dwellers. You may just have to up CO2 and prune what's there, and stick with that method.

Thanks Nowhereman. I just added CO2 this weekend and I will prune the leaves tonight. Hopefully it will go away and all will be good...we shall see. Thanks again for your help.
