Ok todays challenge is to name the "assorted aquarium plants" I purchased yesterday from my vague descriptions...

1) about 6 inches tall & as wide as it is tall. THe leaves look all crinkly like they need ironing & are green on the up turned side & purpuly on the down facing side but as they are curled slightly facing towasds the light they look more purple from face on.

2) This is about 8 inches tall & although bushy is not as fat as the last one. It has longger leavers which are green but it looks like someone as drawn aroun the edges of every leaf with with a thick red felt tip pen.

3) This is about 10 inches tall & the leaves are huges & round and each leaf is on the end of some stem. It mostly red/purple but the very visible veins in the leaves are green.

4) about 16 inches tall. looks like thick grass, very floppy.

5) about 10 inches tall. looks like a fern. light green.

6) dark green about 10 inches tall, 10 'tendrils/spikes growing very neetly with little (soft) spikes growing all over it out of the tenrils. looks rather like a christmas tree (except facing up & no trunk).

7) about 12 inches tall. Long light green leaves growing from the base. lots of leaves that are thin at the bottom & wider near the top & finish in little points.

I think I'll have to get a book lol.

Ok well that is a bit of a challenge without photos But I'll give it a shot.

1) about 6 inches tall & as wide as it is tall. THe leaves look all crinkly like they need ironing & are green on the up turned side & purpuly on the down facing side but as they are curled slightly facing towasds the light they look more purple from face on.

Sounds like Cryptocorene Wedtii

2) This is about 8 inches tall & although bushy is not as fat as the last one. It has longger leavers which are green but it looks like someone as drawn aroun the edges of every leaf with with a thick red felt tip pen.

Red on the edges ? Doesn't ring any bells. Sounds suspiciously like a non aquatic plant.

3) This is about 10 inches tall & the leaves are huges & round and each leaf is on the end of some stem. It mostly red/purple but the very visible veins in the leaves are green.

Sound like a Tiger Lotus - Nymphea Zankeri.

4) about 16 inches tall. looks like thick grass, very floppy.

Vallinsera species ?

5) about 10 inches tall. looks like a fern. light green.

Hygrophilia Difformis - Wisteria

6) dark green about 10 inches tall, 10 'tendrils/spikes growing very neetly with little (soft) spikes growing all over it out of the tenrils. looks rather like a christmas tree (except facing up & no trunk).

Could be one of a few similar types - Cambomba/Limnophilia/Myriophyllum.

7) about 12 inches tall. Long light green leaves growing from the base. lots of leaves that are thin at the bottom & wider near the top & finish in little points.

Sounds like a Sword of some sort - probably Amazon. Echinidorous Bleheri or some similar Echinidorous.

I think I'll have to get a book lol.

Look up the name I have given on http://www.tropica.com and see if the pics match your plants.

Let me know if I got any right

Some days you're the pigeon and some days you're the statue.

Remember that age and treachery will always triumph over youth and ability.
