This may belong in DIY but ill post here anyhow.

I have a 220w jebo light fixture on legs. The amount of light that was escaping into the room made it so that i didnt even need to turn on a light at night. Also my plants werent doing so great.

What i did was to tape tinfoil along the back side of the light fixture so that it hangs down a little farther than the top of the tank. I then molded/bent the foil so that no light could escape. I then did the same thing to the front of the fixture. The foil has ben folded over in both cases to give it a bit more rigidity.

The piece across the front basically uses the tape as a hinge so that i can flip it over to fedd and do mainteance. It has dramatically increased the amount of light that is going into the tank. And has made it so that my plants are doing ALOT better. The Light also seems to penetrate to the bottom of my 90, where before my swords werent getting enough to thrive.

Just thought id post a cheap trick incase anyone else needs to get a bit more light from their raised lights.

BTW i havent noticed any increase in heat to the fixture as the fans are on the ends and not covered.

Good tip, I want to try that, or gloss white paint which I also hear is good.
