Hi everyone,

I finally got a light for my 2ft 18G, after years, it's pathetic.
Anyway, it's a twin 2ft light that carries a total of 30W.
The only thing is, the light tubes are at 12000K each.
And it's a kind of weird tube so replacement would be a bit hard.

And I'd like to plant my tank amazon style.
Currently it has 1 wood and 1 anubias nana attached to the wood.

I was thinking about some java moss to go on the wood too.
And Chain Sword for the foreground and some swords for background.

Maybe swords grow too large for 18" tall, but I'd like some plants with big leaves like swords.

So any suggestions please.
Can I keep those plants with 12000K light?

Cheers,
Jimmy

Jimmy,

We recently had a very constructive [link=Discussion]http://www.fishprofiles.com/files/forums/Planted%20Aquaria/66108.html?200511100413" style="COLOR: #ff6633[/link] on smaller tank and light requirements. Given your 1.67wpg, I would assume that you are limited to low light plants “with a slight tendency” to mid light plants.

There are various plants in the crypt family that have broad leaves that could work well for you. The Amazon might be either too big or not receive enough light.

And the best light temperature for plants is closer to the 6000 to 8000 K range, I use 6700K. 12000 is not considered a plant-friendly light.
