i just had my lfs order some java moss. they harged me 3.99 for a little pot of it. should be here next week. what im trying to figure out is when i put the moss on the rocks in my tank, do i put it at the bottom of the rock and let it grow up wards? or will it just go what ever way it feels like?

Here's a web site that was posted in the posting Java Moss Balls, another member posted it. From my own experience I would put it on a plastic disk and use sewing thread to tie it down this way thread will just rot away. Java Moss is slow growing but after it gets going it doesn't really matter were you want it, it will decide for you. It appears to be one of those plants that you will have to remove some every so often. If you put it on a disk, you will be able to move it around the tank to see were you like it best.

as djrichie said tread can be great as it breaks up and leaving you a great bit of moss. But for it to grow quick it does seem to like higher lights better, even though it will grow in all light levels. But if u want to put it onto a smooth surface or on to somthing in a very low light level tank then to give it time for the moss to attach use fishing line. As in some of my low level tanks the tread breaks befor the moss grows on to the surface i want.
