As many of you have said, I have about 2-4 wattage and I can have plants like hornwort and anubias. Well i did my research and have found out that not only are hornworts good for my wattage but so are water sprite, and parrots feather. All of them are 2.5-3 wattage and are described as easy to care for and colorful, well bright green and bunchy which is the look iam going for. So are these good for me? Iam planning on ordering them from aquaticplantdepot.com. I plan on ordering 3 hornworts, 2 parrots feather, and one water sprite....the total comes out to $5.71 and there is no shipping charges!.....so are these good for me...

P.S Sorry for all the posot latley.....just really pumped about restockig my tank!

Parrot feather isn't considered a good aquarium plant and does batter as an oxygenator in a pond. the reason being that is doesn't look all that great, but feel free to try it, Also buy more than one of each, you could get several variations of anubis to add textures and different leaf structure.

Those are some nice plants... "3 hornwort" - I don't know how they send them, but usually when I've gotten hornwort it's just been sent in a big ball. 3 may be a LOT of hornwort, but that's ok. Just be prepared to trim it because it'll grow like crazy. When kept floating in my CO2 planted tank it used to grow by inches per day. Also with horwort it's important not just to trim the tops off, but to trim off the tops, remove the bottoms and replant the tops. Hornwort can become gangly looking if left planted too long, which is why i think it's used floating so much.

And yes, aquaticplantdepot charges a 10 dollar flat rate for shipping. There's no such thing as a free lunch...

How'd you get 'inches per day'? What species of hornwort did you have?

Mine used to grow about a foot a day on each branch when I had it in relatively high light (no co2 tho)

I got a small bunch of hornwort from azgardens a few months ago and now there's a huge pile floating on one side of my 90g, a small pile floating along the back of the 29g, and the 5g and 20g are completely covered on the top.

There are many nice types of plants that will do well under your lighting, and without CO2. There are several different varieties of anubius, anacharus, bolbitus, java fern, jave moss, most vals, water sprite, several different varieties of crypts, and more.

All these plants listed will do fine under your lighting. But, your range of plants is actually quite wide, 2-4. If it is 4 watts/gal, there are a lot more varieties of plants you can go with, verses if your lighting is only 2 watts/gal.

Look around on plant sites for medium light plants. As 3-4 watts per gal is more in the medium range. And if you plan on injecting CO2, they will do great.
