Well I guess its time for me to go planted

Well as some of you know, i'm HORRIBLE with plants...

Heres what I have so far (in my head)

10 to 20 gallon tank- Acrylic or Glass

Shop light with two 20 to 36 watt bulbs (Should I use Dayglo or Floraglo, or something else?

Planning on 30 lbs of eco-complete, or fluorite.

Hagen c02 (the cheapo one) or DIY Co2.

Anything else? I'm planning to get vals, glosso, anubias, java fern, swords so far..probably bacopa also.

Go with the largest tank you have the space and money for - plants will grow on you! 2-3 watts of light per gallon is what your shooting for. Check out http://www.ahsupply.com for lighting kits. Bulbs should be "full spectrum" or "daylight", with a color temp of at least 5000K, but preferably 6700K (don't get the 10000K bulbs - they're for deep tanks or saltwater). The rest of your plan sounds good!

7 kg (one bag) of flourite will get you 2 inches of substrate in a 10 gal.. Then perhaps cap with pea gravel or fine river rock for the last inch of substrate ?

2 bags would be excessive for a 10 gal but perfect for a 20. (14 kg or approx 30 pounds)

I'm thinking about a 10 gallon..the reason i dont want a large tank is that i want to experiment first, and I've already set up a 50 during the last week..not sure i want to get another "medium" sized tank anytime soon.

Can someone please provide me with some easy species to start with? And also nice foreground plants (I'm thinking glosso or riccia, but its VERY hard to find foreground plants here)
