To my knowlege you can't buy aquatic plant SEEDS anywhere...you can get BULBS for some plants (aponos & dwarf lillies are all that I've seen).

Usually you just buy the plants already grown and let them grow daugher plants and sell those

You should do some research to see what aquatic plants and invasive (foreign introduced) plants are already available in Australias' water bodies.. You can find in lakes, rivers, ponds etc.. You can check the net, local library or Ministry of Natural Resources.. Even make some fun field trips searching the lakes etc for plants..

Then go to LFS's or call them, and see what they have avail. The good thing is, there's a ton of members in FP from Aussie. Some of them may have done this research already and can save you time.

I have to question the motive for your nursery,
is it for a business ? In any case, good luck !

"well I am sick of not being able to get the plants i want from the LFS and when I can find them they are usually not the best looking specimens".

I have to admit, I like your answer... I've seen some pretty ratty, brown, algae covered, snail infested plants in some stores. If I ever wanted to buy one of those, I'd buy one, grow it in a quarantine tank. If you're successful at this you might be the one supplying the fishstores with better looking plants.. Some stores that sell nice plants charge an arm and a leg. $17. for a full grown Java Fern ! (very easy to propagate) You have alot of research do do.. What plants are avail to your local, what the requirements are to not only grow them, but different ways to propagate, some are even propogated out of water, or hydroponically. Hydroponic setups aren't cheap.. RESEARCH LOTS.. Best of luck to ya

I'd suggest starting with some easy plants, see how successful you are with those, and move up from there.
Sorry I don't know which ones are avail to you or I'd be more help.

I have looked into the export etc laws and it seems I cant really get any seeds etc for out of Australia (they are worried about our waterways). But I can get seeds for native aquatic grasses and plants and then i will just need to buy the others and take cutting..
