How much Anacharis can I put in a 40L goldfish tank? Would enough to cover the entire back be too much? Thanks

You can't really have too many plants unless yer stuffing the entire tank full of 'em

That being said, most of the back of my 29g is covered by anacharis. I've also got some other plants in there (check my profile )

IME anacharis grows quickly, even under low light conditions. In a 10g tank I have to do weekly trimmings. It really depends on what type of look you're going for.

Not much. It will be gone in a week, as goldfish love anacharis.

Thanks for the replies. I planted it along the entire back. My goldfish aren't eating any of my plants. They just pick at the moss balls occasionally.

40Liters? Or 40 gallon long? Do you have a pond for them in summer or something?

Edit: To answer sis's question below, 40 litres is 10 gallons.

40 liters is that 10 gallons or 20? Sorry my metrick system is way off

Either way I hate to telly you they need a bigger tank if that is liters not gallons:#(

As far as how much anacharis can you put in there? How much are you willing to buy? They may not be eating it yet, but they willfor some reason that is one plant that never lasted long in the tank:%)The main thing you want to make sure is that they have plenty of room to still swim about, and anacharis really grows well, and is hard to kill (for me that is) so get a couple of bundles, chunk it in and see how long it lasts, if they eat it, then get a few hundred bundles, if it does last throw a little light on it and watch the mess grow...this past weekend I pulled 4 foot of it out of my 2.5 gallon tank (FruitLoop the betta) and know there is still another 6-10 feet:%)

Hope some of that helps, heidi

Hi. The tank is US 40 gallon long( lower height, more surface area. There are 2 small goldfish in the tank and 8 Corys. They are fine for now but I'll upgrade when the time comes) I put 10 bunches of Anacharis in and will trim it as needed. I have a 20 gallon long also that I can put extras. Thanks all.
