First off, how much light do you have on there? I would recomend getting rid of that giant pleco you have. It has outgrown your tank. It would also uproot any plants that you would try puting in there.

its very low light, like 15watts 6000k. I am selling the pleco to someone my brother works with, so the plec will be gone sometime next week. The main reason i havent put any plants in there before was becasue of the pleco.

Good then. I would suggest any type of Java fern, moss, anubias & hornwort. Cryptocoryne wendtii would do great to. This plant even grew in this tank my dad had set up for a while as a quarantine tank. It didnt grow tall but it grew very compact. The light was rarely turned on and it usully just got some light from the sun in the early morning. An anubias congensis also did well in there.

If you have any more questions, just post them. Post some pics of when you plant it too.

I'll tell you a couple plants I have had luck with as a beginner... Anacharis and Wisteria. Mine have done well, with little maintenance (other than having to plant them back into my gravel time and again...) but, they have grown very well in my 20g, surrounded by Tiger Barbs. I use a 6700K Life Glo2 15w lite 9 hrs a day from early afternoon until 10 pm.

I had hornwort flaoting about the top of the tank, and I loves the green mottled lighting effects but the stuff made a mess and was so brittle... I may yet try the hornwort again as it does make a great floater... It changes the complexion of the entire tank.

I agree with scott on the bulb. I have a 10 gallon with the same light source and I have Jungle Vals, Ludwiga, Some swords, Wysteria all growing well. I have used hornwort also just to stablize the tank as they suck up all the excess nutrients. So any of those suggested will work great.

Shane

Thanks for your input as always, Shane
