The lady I'm getting the Firemouths from said they'll pretty much eat any sort of plant I might use. These 5 will be housed in a 10 gal for now. After we move in June I'll be upgrading to a 30 gal or so. As for the lighting it's between 30-40watts, no CO2, using Sera Florena for ferts. Thanks ahead FOTB |

They have thick waxy leaves that are not easily chewed up, especially by smaller cichlids. They don't require much lighting and will do fine without the addition of ferts. Tie them onto rocks or wood, leaving the rhizome (horizontal piece of the plant out of which the stems and leaves are growing) above the substrate. Doubt there will be much of a problem. For something fancier some of the smaller sword and crypt varieties may work, though they may be uprooted. |

I am using aqua-glow bulbs, flourish excel, and flourish root tabs. The plant is not growing huge but its growing and putting out new leaves fairly regular. Once you get this plant to root in the fish don't mess with it. 19G Container Pond [IMG]http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y118/Wingsdlc/Ric |

Java Fern looks real nice - I'm not sure though if I want to add too much in the way of plants. FOTB |
