sorry i mislooked at the photo of your shrimp.
It looks like it could be a wood shrimp.
They come in a variation of colors,
and can change colors to match their surroundings from
bluey green to orange to red or yellow.
Heres a good pic, do your shrimp look like this:

are you sure he died?
They often stay quite still for a long
time after a molt

I think the confusion is Tankie accidentally switched 1 and 2 on that list. (1 is Wisteria.)

Im almost positive its a wood shrimp. They can change colors and your shrimp has the deep red color and white stripe that wood shrimp are known for. Many wood shrimp will not show this coloration in the store due to stress, so they look a dull brown color.

I'll do graffiti,
If you sing to me in French.

Indeed it is Ambulia.
The proper name for this plant is
now Limnophilia.
There are two common varieties,
aquatica, and sessiflora.
Yours appears to be the same
variety as I have- the more green
and easier to keep aquatica.
A very good condition specimen looks
exactly like yours looks, but they are hard
to keep looking that nice with 4+wpg and C02.
However, I still really like them,
and they will still do fine in your tank.
Seperate the stems a bit though, or they will rot
out.

Wood Shrimp are a filter feeding shrimp.
They siphon food particles out of the water.
They grow to about 3 inches, making
them one of the largest filter feeding
shrimp out there.
You should add about 1-2 drops of Iodine for
your shrimps after each water change.
When they shed their exoskeleton leave
it in the tank for them to eat.
