Now i am going to bring home a betta as soon as i set up my tank. Now i am confused about whether there is any particular plants that bettas need or prefer to have in their home. I am looking for somthing that need minimal sunlight. also i am in a town called wangaratta in victoria ast. this may narrow down the list.
Can anyone advise me on what to buy ?

I can tell you that bettas do not NEED any live plants to live healthy lives, but beyond that, I can't help.

good luck,

they like wide leaves for resting on

Java fern or a variety of anubias, both are very hardy

Hornwort works well in my betta tanks, as it doesn't need much light at all. Java moss or Java fern would be good choices as well.

I especially like the idea of java fern, as you could attach it to rock or wood or any random decor and it would be easy to remove when changing the water, assuming 100% waterchanges. Also, I have java fern in my ten gallon that has attached itself to a bunch of gravel, so it doesn't float around, but just hovers above the substrate. It's kind of fun.

My friend has anubias nana var. barteri growing in an unlit betta tank. The betta loves to rest on the leaves, which are almsot as big as he is. virtually unkillable too.
