About a week ago i went in the road and got some plants from a pond and put them in a cooler just incase there were any parasites on them, and now they are growing very good in my 75 gallon heated tank.

I like to experiment so some time ago I was placing a plant order and bought a Neanthebella palm, which is considered a terrarium plant (for less than $1 I figured I couldn't go wrong )

It did quite well in a brackish tank I had setup...that tank is now being switched over to something else so I put the palm in my 2.5g betta hex. Again I'm having no problems with it.

As long as potential plants are safe for the fish I see no reason not to try new or different things, just keeping in mind that they might not always work out.

I collected some native pond plants while I was hiking one time (that's also when I "collected" my three-foot kingsnake), and they are growing very well in my tank. I just made sure to wash them off very well to get off any parasites or predatory insect larvae.

I've gotten my local variety of hornwort from my local lake. Killed the first batch I collected by using too strong a bleach to water solution :%).

Second time I just let it sit for a few weeks in tank water on the windowsill then rinsed again.

Is it aquatic grass? That's one of the coolest types of plant there is.

Theresa,
Had another look @that pic you posted...and :%)! we had one of those in the office @work potted. All I could find on it was "dwarf palm" ( real helpful). Not sure why but once it started getting regular waterings we ended up losing it . How long has it been submerged?
Looks great in the tank that way and I really need to find something for my tank I've got the same one sitting in my kitchen with a few random plants in it and one snail that got there who knows how :%).

It's been submerged for 2-3 months. It lost a bit of color, I think due to the fact that I originally had it in a brackish tank. Since it's a terrarium plant I think regular waterings would definitely kill it; aren't terrariums just kept damp/moist?
