Ok, here is my silly question but it begs to be answered. The local lfs told me that I should not unpot my plants. However, I recently read that they should be in fact taken out of there pots.... how do you guys feel about this topic?

They should be removed from the pots. as in terrestrial
plants pots lead to rootbound, and the roots can begin dieing
as can the plant.

I don't trust rockwool. You should remove the plants from the
pot and then gently remove the rockwool from the plant.
Look for dead an rotting roots and cut them off with sharp
scissors. Run the roots under water to get the loosely
attached pieces off. after you have removed most of the
rockwool, plant the plant into the substrate, or wherever it
belongs (anubias and javaferns attach onto wood as well.

HTH,
Megil.

Yes, you need to take the pot & cotton off the Plant Roots.

ok ... took care of that, all them came apart alright I was even able to spread some of them out a little. The only dying roots I found were around the rubber bands. But now i have two more questions why was one of the roots on the amazon sword one of the roots was white turning green toward the end... I thought I read somwere that they spread by shooting out roots.. is that true? Also how often should I fertlize?

Roots willl turn green when they are exposed to light, causing them to start producing chlorophyl. As for fertilization, it is best to follow to the instructions on the package, since all fertilizers are different.

I'm not your neighbor, you Bakersfield trash.
