My local LPS has them for 12.88 each! Big Als' is around $10. Is this a normal price?? I'd always thought, since they were hardy and easy to grow, they'd be cheaper...

Are they selling particularly old ones, with a ton of leaves and a big rhizome? If so, that price is quite reasonable. For a small one with a few leaves, I'd say 3.99 is closer to the mark. They're easy, but they take forever to grow, so they're not generally dirt cheap.

Molly is absolutely correct. They are so darn slow at growing the prices have to be high to make any kind of profit. Also why it is absolutely impossible for me to find decent sized ones I have a lot now but they are tiny.

At least with Anubias, they are a safe investment as they are almost impossible to kill. They represent good value IMO, you can spend that amount on stem plants that could die in a month, generally no such worries with Anubias.

They're about $12(aus) around here, but when I bought mine, the girl didn't notice that a second one got tangled up with it

I get mine at http://www.aquariumgarden.com/index.php?doc_base=plant_info.php&plantid=an051. Generally I get good size with plenty of leaves for $2.79 each. The last order I got, I recieved a huge one. All of their plants I've ordered came in great condition. Also it helps that the store is close to my town (30mins away).
