I've stopped using ferts since I got my new lighting a week and a half ago. This is the current state of my anubias: http://www.jjones43.freeserve.co.uk/images/anubiasalgae.jpg I know it's not a great picture but I haven't mastered fish-photography. Also sorry about the smears, didn't notice them without the flash! ![]() The same algae eventually grows from every leaf with even the slightest visible damage and often from leaves which looked fine previously. What type of algae is this and how do I get rid of the damn stuff once and for all?! ![]() Last edited by bigchris at 23-Apr-2005 10:17 |

The problem with cutting ferts while increasing light is that with the new light you need more plant growth to avoid algae. Cutting ferts that were needed in the first place cuts plant growth. You also need more plants and faster growing plants when you increase light. Anubias is a very slow grower and so e to algae coating as well as not growing fast enough to out compete the algae throughout the tank. You have to keep a planted tank balanced or you can get lots of algae. Algae eating fish will also help. |
