Anyone know the relationship between ramshorn snails and banana plants. This snail didn't seem to really hurt my other plants, but complelely devoured a good size banana plant within a few days. I mean nothing was left.

Any chance the plant was in some stage of deterioration ?
Snails go for weak/damaged plants first.

No, it seemed pretty healthy. I can't say there wasn't a damaged leaf or something, but the plant was really growing.

For mine it's the dwarf lillies. They can't resist eating them.

It is odd, but interesting they pick one plant. Curious to know why.

Simple. Banana plant is a Nymphoide closely related to the lotus plants. All these species have very thin soft leaves, kind of like tissue paper.

Snails like soft plant tissue, that why they prefer rotting leaves on other plants. The soft Nymphea leaves are just like rotting plant matter.

Good Analysis on the banana plant. The snail ate the leafs and all the "bananas" as well.
