I bought some Ricca about a month ago and i used mesh to place it on a rock. But it seems some just float to the top of the water...making a mess of the tank. Just wondering what is the best thing to do with it.

Regards

What kind of mesh are you using and how are you tieing it.

I'm using the most ridiculous type of mesh I actually stole from the wifey. It's some kind of shower body dcrubbing thingy. It's a bunch of puffed up netting .As look would have it's green. Very stretchy. Just cut a bit off (God bless her she thinks she's scrubbing herself too hard and wearing it out really quickly ), put the riccia on the rock and stretch the netting really tight and tie the loose netting up.

Here's a pic with some older and newer Riccia. You can seee how it grows and will give you an idea of the size of the netting. Works a treat never had a single piece float away in a couple of months.

That's a great idea but maybe you owe your wife a nice little shower/bath gift basket including a replacement sponge?

Those are in your 5g, right? You posted another pic of that tank and I couldn't figure out for the life of me what they heck they were

And [link=here's a pic]http://www.cottonblossomcrafts.com/mesh_bath_sponge1.htm" style="COLOR: #FFCC99[/link] of the mesh sponges we're talking about in case anyone doesn't know.

Im actually using the plastic mesh from onion bags. Im placing the rock under water in the sun and its actually growing. Il give it another week and add it in the tank and see how it goes. Thanks for the replies.

Theresa,
That's exactly the type of thing It's ideal as the netting is very elastic and stretchy. And available in green !

Mangor ,
I think the holes in the onion bag may be a bit too big hence allowing the Riccia to float away> Holes of 3-4mm would be ideal.
Try to get one of these spongy things. Save some money - check your wife/mother/sister/girlfriends room first

How about using those grid that people sew with, I would take the corners and staple or silicone them together and put the small clump of riccia in the middle?
