Hi,

Does any one know what a "room crawler" is? I'm sure thats not the scientific though.

Well i stuck that plant in my tank and its growing and looking greener than when its planted in a pot in my living room.

Is this a water plant, or will it effect my community fish tank in the future?

Thanks for any replys

hi Kesfish

If the plant now in your tank was once potted in your livingroom, it is not a true aquatic plant. Many plants will continue to grow for a while after being completely submerged in water, but will not stay alive forever - eventually they will start to rot, fouling your water and just looking plain old ugly. Parts of these types of plants can remain submerged in water, but need to be allowed to grow out in open air (think about the popular "lucky bamboo" as an example)

The good news is, there are a number of beautiful true aquatic plants you can chose from. Living room plants are usually best left in the living room

Hope that helps ... and if any of the above is wrong, please feel free to correct me.

Yep I agree, and I would also like to add to that...

some house-plants are poisonous. For example, anything from the Dieffenbachia family should not go near your tank. Better to find out what it is before adding it to a tank with live fish.
