Does it need to be temp controlled, or will it be ok just in some water as long as it doesn’t freeze?

I dunno about shipping, but that stuff just doesn't die... I pulled a bunch out of my tanks and shoved it in a small glass bowl I had, intending to move it into another tank. I forgot about it and it's STILL really green and growing like nuts, even though room temp drops down to 60 at night and there's no direct light to speak of. I'm sure that as long as it doesn't freeze, it should be okay.

~Meow. Thus spoke the cat.~

It'll be fine - you don't even need to have it in water - just squeeze the excess water off it, place it in an airtight bag, then the packaging.

Just fine, mine was shipped wrapped in moist newspaper and plastic bags.
I have some in the "pond" right now that's around 55F, not growing rapidly as it hasn't got light on it, but it's not dying either.

I wouldnt ship in water .. would squeeze out excess water, wrap in moist newspaper, place in airtight bag, and ship. This will also keep the weight down. As long as its shipped priority mail (2-3 day) you shouldnt have any problems.

This is the method that most professional suppliers use, the only time that it will actually be in any danger of freezing is when its in the recipients mailbox.

You never asked Booger!..... besides it's not like I'm overrun with it .

Coal eh?, well it'll be less tasty then the tootise rolls I got this year, but might be worth a bit more on the blackmarket .
