I had it somewhat stuck in the gravel and it started to lose its neddles. BIG MESS! The stuff does grow really fast if you give it what it wants. 19G Container Pond [IMG]http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y118/Wingsdlc/Ric |

Natural, undyed cotton is the best as it will slowly disintegrate. You could also use fishing line. |

I can't imagine the rubber itself would, but who knows where those rubber bands have been? Rubber bands always seem grimy and smell gross, would you want to add that to your tank? Just let it float. |

No matter how perfect someone's planted tank is, and floating or planted, hornwort will always hit a stage where it goes needly and thin in some part of it. Left unchecked, it will drop the needles all over the tank. I would check for those sections in the plant and remove them weekly, and leave the healthier thicker portions of the plant to grow out again. A great way to prevent plant gunk (and snails if you have them) from getting into the filter is put a piece of sponge around the intake tube. Rinse once a week so as not to choke out the filter.. Also, the filter media requires less rinsing this way. The Amazon Nut... |
