I have a small amount of the black hair algae in my tank. It has appeared on my java fern and another plant which is on some drift wood.

I noticed the same algae in abundance on the same plant (sorry don't know name) in my LFS. So I called them up to enquire and was told it was black hair algae and that it was mainly due to natural light. So I've closed the blinds in my appartment while I'm at work. I've removed a couple of leaves with it on.

It's defintely not growing fast as is mainly on the plant with no name . Is there anything else I should do?

thanks

I only feed the fish once a day for 2-3 mins max. The light is currently on for 6 hours a day. I reduced it from 10 hours while I was out of the country on holiday. I've kept it at 6 hours when the algae appeared because I thought too much light might encourage the algae - I'm not sure if that's correct. I think I read it somewhere.

I'll check out that website. thanks
