I was woundering if it would be pointless to just add a few bags of smaller subtrate on top of the one i have now. Should i just start over and completly replace the substrate i have now? Thanks, Justin 55gal Tank:130 watt coral lights,Eheim Wet/Dry 2227 Canister Filter,Powerhead, Co2 Injection and a heater. |

Smaller size gravel is usually better for plants and you might want to start over to keep the look even. |

Depends on what look you're trying to achieve though. If you want a nice, heavily planted tank then definately replace the substrate to a more suitable one first (small sized gravel, perhaps mixed with flourite). But if you just want a few java ferns and anubias your current substrate should be fine. ![]() |
