I need 1 night light tube & another light tube that is good for my plants, so i'll keep it on during the day. Is there any night light that is good for the plants?. Thanks in advance for your help. http://www.deathbydyeing.org/ http://www.flickr.com/photos/corydoras/ Member of the Malta Aquarist Society - 1970. http://www.maltaaquarist.com |

Plants need a period of darkness. In simple terms the light gathered during the day is turned into growth at night and plants change over to giving out Co2 rather then oxygen. Most plant growth is done at night, so this period of darkness is vital. Remember that age and treachery will always triumph over youth and ability. |

Just avoid tubes marked "warm white" these are in aspectrum not really suitable for good growth and willmake everything look yellowish. No real need to get fancy bulbs from the lfs, the normal daylights do just as good a job at a fraction of the price. If you want to spend a little extra get a good quality tri-phosphor bulb. Agin make sure it's "daylight". These are a bit brighter then the normal one and last longer. Should be available from any half decent hardware or lighting store. On the box there is written, High light output with the colour temperature 20000K. Stimulating nature light for aquariums & bring the most beautiful colour for aquariums. What do you think?. http://www.deathbydyeing.org/ http://www.flickr.com/photos/corydoras/ Member of the Malta Aquarist Society - 1970. http://www.maltaaquarist.com |

This will be wasted on plants and will give everything in the tank, fish and plants, a pale washed out look. Avoid them and go for a simpler, cheaper more effective light ![]() Remember that age and treachery will always triumph over youth and ability. |
