I setup my co2 last nite using Tarah Nyberg's receipe, but I haven't seen any bubbling yet.

All long does it usually tank to start.

I used the following ingredients:

Active Dry Yeast
Sugar
Baking Soda
Protein Drink Mix (Soy protein powder w/spirulina)

I do have the juice bottle I'm using under the cabinet, maybe it's taking longer to travel up to the tank.

I also just set up using the protein powder
Seemed to take longer than normal but I did have output this morning (24 hours later ). Not sure what the exact receipe is ...if you wouldnt' mind posting ....I just added a small ammount (maybe 1 or 2 Tbs) of plain soy.

T'anks ...I'd seen the post originally, switched to using the barbs but didnt remember the proportions that were suggested. Missed the baking soda, I'll have to get that next time.
Mine was producing slowly this morning, but it's also working in an air temp of only 65F.

So your took about 24 hrs to get going at 65f.
Mines been setup about 16 hrs and it only bubbles if I shake the bottle.

Right now I have the bottles in the cabinet the tank is on.
I'm assuming once it gets going that's not going to matter.

I actually have one 1.89 liter juice bottle and the other is the canister the hagen system came with I think it's only about .5 liter and they are both hooked up to a t-valve. Maybe it's not even worth haven the hagen cansister.

I lied...dunno why I typed 65...it's actually 60F...cant say how long it did take as I didnt look when I got home, could have taken shorter but I do know that it was producing when I checked on it this morning...nevermind I'd forgotten to turn the powerhead back on .

It will run a lot better if the temp is warmer. You may want to try wrapping the bottle or something. I'm not sure if you can do this or not, but my 20 gallon I put the bottles on the counter until it is running fast enough, and then put it on the ground once it is going well. This recipe should not take that long.

Tarah's recipe includes molasses and ammonium sulfate (yeast nutrient) by the way.

Piscesgirl,

It should still work without the molasses?
Also the yeast I bought was "Active Dry" I'm
assuming that's O.K.

Active dry is the usual...aka bakers yeast...you don't want yesat extract or brewers yeast that's sold in grocery stores. Brewers yeast that's really for brewing is another story entirely .
What I'd been doing to try and keep the bottle a bit warmer is a offshoot of the bottle on the light trick. I always keep the tank covered in winter (heat conservation) so I just extended the blanket a bit to cover the bottle too. Extra heat from the lights keeps the bottle warm and producing when the lights are on.
My mix sure looks a lot frothier than before...bubbles seem more as well, but again it's been a few degrees warmer too :88).

Yes, it should work fine without molasses, but if you have brown sugar, you can add a teaspoon of that too.

You may want to double check your cap and see for sure that there is no leak (is it pushed all the way flat?). That yeast should be fine, was it new? Sometimes it's possible to get a bad batch of yeast.

what do all those ingredients do for the mixture?

I use a hagen/netrafin with sugar, 1/4 tsp dry active yeast, 1/4 teaspoon baking soda, and sugar

71 to 73 degrees F when you mix, will see bubbles in 5 minutes.
