I am not 100% sure if this is where I need to post this so if it is not right go ahead and move it. Thanks!

What do I need/need to know to test how much co2 I have in my tank. As some of you know I am running a DIY system with a bubble lader in a 40g. long tank. Thanks for your help!

Wingsdlc,

All you need is to measure your ph and KH (in degrees).

Then, use [link=This Chart]http://www.csd.net/~cgadd/aqua/art_plant_co2chart.htm" style="COLOR: #ff6633[/link] (scroll down) to look up your CO2 in ppm.

LF,

Thanks! I know that at work we have a Ph test but I don't know if we have a KH. I might actually have to buy one...... I would rather not though. I am a super poor college kid who has spent too much cash in the past couple of weeks......Thanks again though.

Do you think the LFS could test the water for you?

We might have the KH test at work but I don't think we do. Is that just a hardness test? Maybe I can talk them into getting a test for store use that I don't have to pay for. I know for sure that we have pH test though.

I have only been working at this place for 2 or 3 months and our plants need a lot of help. The bosses are really crazy over our coral tanks and the plants don't get much attention unless I am there. I have been slowly working on things.

Edit: I guess I could always sneek over to the other LFS that actually does better with plants and see if they can test it for me. At least our fish don't die off like crazy...... 6 to one, 1/2 dozzen to another.....

FYI while store testing is good and all you will loose CO2 in
the water sample in transit due to suface agitation, so you
are likely to get a high pH reading than itreally is since the
CO2 will dissipate out of the water as it is displaced by
Oxygen. It i best if you get a test kit of your own.
Salifert and Lamotte would be the preferable brands, but tetra
and aquarium pharmaceuticals would work decently enough.

HTH,
Megil

P.S. as sad as it may sound consider asking for a test kit for stuffmas(as babel approprietly calls it), or money to buy one.

Thats true thanks Megil Tel'Zeke. Maybe I shouldn't even worry about doing it. My plants are growing well and my fish arn't freakig out.
