Hi all! Back in the day (maybe 1 1/2 years ago) I sent out a ton of java moss to people when I had extra in my tank. Well now I'm on the other side of the country and I need some java moss! I haven't been able to find it at any stores around here.

So, does anyone have some extra they can send my way? I'd be happy to pay you a few bucks for shipping.

i don't have java moss in any o my tank but i can easily get some from the Aq Store but i don't know if it would last the journy to the US though

I have a ton. How much do you want? FYI, the kind I have is the "Christmas" variety. I have a rubber maid container on my front steps full of it at the moment.

Yeah, inside the US would be best - I don't know if plants would make it through customs.

I just need a good size chunk to get me going. When I shipped it I just stuffed some in a ziploc bag with some water, partially sealed it, and then squeezed out most of the water so it wasn't heavy to ship.

I actually got it accidentally. There was a small piece tagging along on another plant that I had bought. The stuff seems to really enjoy my Oscar tank. So much so that every few months I have to rid the tank of the majority just so I can see my Oscar It seems pretty silly to have a 12 inch boisterous fish that I can't see.

I do realize that java and Christmas moss are not the same species, if memory serves me I don't even think they are in the same genus (although tropica would tell you otherwise). In light of that, there are a bazillion different species (and genus) of moss, and they are often misidentified. Positively identifying them would require me not only to look at the appearance and growth at a macro level, but at a micro level as well (cellular structure and spores). I'm simply not up to the task so I clump them as the herd does.
