The leaves on my plants are turning brown, and the leaves are getting sparser as it gets taller. i went to buy some fertilizer, but when I saw how many different types there are, I didn't know which one to use. Can somebody tell me what I'm lacking, so I can buy the appropriate fertilizer? Thanks

If there are long spaces between the leaves, and a long, thin stem, this means that the plant does not have enough light to grow properly. Forget the fertilizer, bump up the light level, or change to plants that will do better with lower light levels (java moss and fern, anubias, crypts, algae balls). Good growing to you!

Hi,

Joe Fishy is completely correct, what you describe is a symptom of a lack of light. No amount of fertilizer will compensate for that, and in fact will cause more problems.

Either increase your amount of light(not the lenght of time they are switched on)or try more approapiate plants. If you post your tank details we can make reccomendations on suitable plants
