![]() | When do I dose nitrates? |

I bought some stump remover from Home Depot, it says it contains potassium nitrate. Can I use it in my tank? If so, how much and when? |

I've heard greenlight is pure, and I've used spectracide's stump remover with no ill effects. I'd dose to about 10-20 ppm, but increase slowly. Mix with water and measure the nitrates in your bucket or pitcher or whatever and then add it accordingly to your tank. Critical Fertilator: The Micromanager of Macronutrients |

See if the test kit is squirrlely before adding anything. NO3 test kits are poorly accurate as a rule. so make a known solution of NO3, then see if the test kit works. Regards, Tom Barr |
