The first one I would guess has 40watts... 2 24inch 20 watt standard lights. The second one has 55watts and would be better for your plants...

I would actually recommend this one...

It's got more watts and it's also cheaper. I have the 48" model and it's _really_ good.

Opt 1:
40watts (2WPG good for medium light plants)

Opt 2:
55watts (2.75WPG good for some high light plans)

Opt 3:
65watts (3.25WPG good for most any plant you want to grow)

Ummm... Mine doesn't have a fan (unless it's silent)... The thing on the side is just a vent...

Bigals has just about the cheapest everything.... You're probably not going to find a better price on the net or in person... It's a really great light and it will provide you with all the light you need for any plant you want to grow. Be warned however, it is a white light with a simi-blue tint.

I was just reading that it had a light for the daytime and a light for the night or something like that. How does that work? Are there two separate plugs? But only one switch? Even though it seems like only one light will be on during the day do the plants still get the 65 watts?
Also for future reference i was looking at the price of replacement bulbs, and i could not figure out what length i was getting, since it didnt list 24" bulbs, the closest was 21.75"

There is 2 plugs and one switch. The lunar lights are LEDs that provide a small amount of light at night so nocturnal fish can see. The plants can really only use light from the main main bulb and the lunar lights really don't do anything for plants.

Also for future reference i was looking at the price of replacement bulbs, and i could not figure out what length i was getting, since it didnt list 24" bulbs, the closest was 21.75"

You'll want to but the 65watt replacement ones in the flavor of your choice (either the SunPaq Dual Daylight or the SunPaq Daylight)

Have you heard of this site?

No... Personally... I would spend the $4 and go with bigals... Many people here have ordered from them without trouble.

It also includes the docking mount. I was also wodering what kind of canopy i would need.

I don't have mine mounted to anything... It just sits on top of the tank on the little "feet" they provided.

Thank you so much for your consant attention to my thread! I really appreciate it. I think i am going to go ahead and buy it, but do you mean that you just have yours on top of the tank, i dont think so, so what kind of canopy do you use? Just a regular glass one? Can it sit on top of a glass canopy? Or does it need to be on the little feet, do i need to buy them?

No problem

so what kind of canopy do you use? Just a regular glass one?

I use an all glass top, the light sits on the outside of the aquarium (on the trim) on the little feet.

Can it sit on top of a glass canopy?

Yes. It wont (shouldn't) actually touch the canopy though.

Or does it need to be on the little feet, do i need to buy them?

The little (1/4inch) feet come with it. You'll want to use them because it need to be vented.
